Nectar Mattress Review
The Nectar Mattress is one of the most affordable online mattresses that you can get. Their generous trial period of 365 days makes it a no-brainer to just place your order and try it out for yourself. But is the mattress worth keeping past the 1 year period?
We have been sleeping on a queen sized Nectar Memory Foam Mattress for over a year now, and here’s the verdict:
It’s not bad. It’s not great. It’s alright.
For reference, we have tried all of following mattresses that you can order online:
- Casper Original
- Layla Mattress
- Leesa Hybrid Mattress (Previously known as the Sapira Mattress)
- Purple Hybrid Mattress
- Tempur-Pedic Original (now known as Tempur-ADAPT)
The Nectar Mattress is a decently soft mattress, but not as soft as the Casper Original. It provides good support for both back and side sleepers (which we are). The memory foam on the Nectar is also surprisingly responsive. This means you’re able to roll around without feeling stuck. You can also test this by pressing your hand into the mattress and seeing how long it takes for the imprint to go away. However, memory foam mattresses will never be as responsive as spring or hybrid mattresses. If having a little more bounce for certain activities is important to you, I would recommend you get a hybrid mattress.
Nectar Memory Foam Mattress (full)
The edge of the mattress isn’t very supportive. If you were to sit on the Nectar, expect it to sink 3-4 inches. If your partner is taking up a majority of the mattress and you’re cornered into the edge, you can expect the support to be lacking.
Our initial impressions when we first laid on the Nectar mattress were neutral. It is what you would expect from a foam mattress. The only mattress that really impressed us was the Purple hybrid mattress because of how unique it felt with its gel polymer grid.
Over the past year, we haven’t experienced any back pains with the Nectar. As their website states, it’s “just right” on the soft-firm scale, which is accurate. After experiencing so many different mattresses, heat retention was a big problem for us. I sleep quite hot and would wake up covered in sweat if the mattress doesn’t regulate heat well. The Nectar mattress gets an extra point in this category for temperature regulation. I haven’t woken up covered in sweat even once, and New York City summers get HOT.
Overall, the Nectar mattress is worth a try. The 365 days risk-free trial allows you a whole year to request a full refund if you’re unsatisfied with the mattress. When you order a Nectar mattress, they usually throw in freebies that you get to keep even if you return the mattress. We got 2 Nectar pillows along with our mattress.
